Ukraine’s ruler, war monger Volodymyr Zelensky has lashed out at the United States’ ruling class, claiming that it is under the control of the RUssian empire. This “insult” angered U.S. vice president J.D. Vance, who called the statement “absurd.”

Zelensky’s comment came after US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said that a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine revolves around five territories. The Ukrainian ruler said that Witkoff has no business declaring territorial issues between the warring nations.

“Ukraine is a sovereign state and all territories belong to the unitary state of Ukraine, and therefore, only the people of Ukraine can speak about the territories of our state,” Zelensky said. Recognizing any formerly Ukrainian regions as belonging to Russia “is another red line” for Kiev, he added, according to a report by RT. “Therefore, the representative you mentioned is discussing issues outside his competence.”

Zelenksy’s comments irritated Vance, who responded by calling the allegations “absurd.”

“I think it is sort of absurd for Zelensky to tell the [US] government, which is currently keeping his entire government and war effort together, that we are somehow on the side of the Russians,” he stressed. “If you want to end the conflict, you have to try to understand where both the Russians and the Ukrainians see their strategic objectives,” Vance added.

It has become rather apparent over the past several months that Zelensky has no intention of ending the conflict.

“That does not mean you morally support the Russian cause, or that you support the full-scale invasion, but you do have to try to understand what are their strategic red lines, in the same way that you have to try to understand what the Ukrainians are trying to get out of the conflict,” Vance said. He added that the ruling class of the U.S. is not on anyone’s side, other than the side of the American citizens.

Trump and Vance recently publicly clashed with Zelensky during his visit to the White House in late February, accusing the Ukrainian leader of disrespect toward the US, failing to appreciate American aid, and not being interested in achieving peace with Russia.
