Springfield Armory has announced the newest pistol in its line-up: the 9mm Echelon 4.5F with a manual safety. The new Echelon 4.5F pistol also offers fully ambidextrous controls and is said to be the new standard for a modern, striker-fired duty pistol.
Building on the popularity of the original Echelon, the new variant has the same features that made the Echelon great and added the rear frame-mounted manual safety for an extra touch. With its position on the rear of the frame, it offers ambidextrous control for both left—and right-handed operators for easy use, while the safety’s texturing matches the rest of the pistol.
“Since its launch in July of 2023, the Echelon has proven itself as a thoroughly capable and innovative 9mm pistol,” said Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing for Springfield Armory. “With this new manual safety variant of the design, the Echelon has added yet another option for those looking for an unparalleled duty-grade pistol.”
The ergonomic design of the full-sized duty pistol has the base of the patent-pending self-contained and serialized stainless steel chassis of the Central Operating Group. What makes that interesting is that the system can be easily moved between grip modules within seconds. Additionally, the Echelon has the Variable Interface System which employs self-locking pins for positioning a direct-mounted optic to the pistol and is compatible with more than 30 different pistol optics on the market today.
In addition, the Echelon 4.5F features a 4.5” hammer-forged barrel inside the slide with the U-Dot tritium/luminescent sights, aiding in the unit’s overall accuracy. The pistol is available in different capacity options: a 17-round, 15-round, and 10-round, offering a choice for those in restricted states. The ergonomic and durable pistol with the manual safety is available now, and all three options have an MSRP of $679.
