LAS VEGAS, NV — Smith & Wesson continues to evolve its popular M&P series with the introduction of the M&P Metal HD, a full-size 9mm steel-frame pistol aimed at duty use and serious shooters. Debuting at SHOT Show 2026, this model provides enhanced durability and recoil mitigation over its polymer predecessors.

Weighing in at approximately 35 ounces, the M&P Metal HD boasts a five-inch slide, crisp flat-face trigger, and optics-ready core plate system supporting seven optic mounting plates. The result is a platform that’s highly adaptable to user preference.

The pistol includes two 17-round magazines, tritium front sight with blacked-out U-notch rear, and enhanced top slide serrations for confident manipulation. Machine-textured side panels and four interchangeable backstraps allow for a customized grip and improved control .

With its steel construction and optics flexibility, the Metal HD provides a heavier, more controllable option for those prioritizing recoil management and durability in a full-size format.

Smith & Wesson’s commitment to user-driven innovation ensures reliable, high-performance tools for both professional and personal defense applications.
