The Secret Service opened fire at Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course after spotting a potential threat, ensuring his safety. The suspect was arrested later by local police.

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (2-minute read) — Former President Donald Trump was swiftly escorted to safety by the Secret Service after agents discharged their firearms at a suspect who was seen with what appeared to be a gun. The incident took place while Trump was golfing at his Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, law enforcement sources have confirmed.

Secret Service agents reported that they had spotted a suspicious individual lurking near the golf course. The situation escalated when they noticed what they believed to be the barrel of a firearm in the man’s possession. Acting promptly, agents opened fire to neutralize the perceived threat and protect the former president.

After ensuring Trump’s safety, law enforcement apprehended the man on I-95, where he was taken into custody by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have yet to determine the suspect’s motives, and the investigation is ongoing.

A spokesperson for Trump, Steven Cheung, reassured the public with a brief statement: “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time.”

This incident occurs just two months after a separate event where Thomas Matthew Crooks shot at Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, wounding him in the ear.

Initial reports speculated that there might have been more than one shooter involved. However, after a more thorough investigation, it was determined that only one Secret Service agent had discharged their firearm.

These events underscore the ongoing risks that high-profile figures like Donald Trump face, even during routine outings. For the Secret Service, staying alert and maintaining swift response times are critical to preventing potential dangers.
