Questions To Ask Yourself Before Carrying a Gun

Today’s post is a little different. Over the last few days, a stack of packages showed up, and I also picked up two new guns from my local shop. Instead of breaking this up into multiple short posts, I figured I’d do a “mail call” style write-up and video to show everything at once.

Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2 Carry Comp

First up is the new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2 Carry Comp. I’ve been carrying the original Bodyguard 2 in a QVO Tactical pocket holster since it came out. It’s been a solid little .380, and I even have a review up for it.

This new Carry Comp version looks very similar in width but adds a slightly longer slide thanks to the compensator cut at the end. Serrations have been updated, but otherwise, the trigger and controls look the same. Like the original, it ships with a 12-round extended mag and a 10-round flush fit. I’ll be running both guns side by side soon to see how much difference that comp actually makes.

HK CC9

Next, I finally got my hands on the HK CC9. I’ve been wanting to try this one since SHOT Show but didn’t expect it to arrive right when I decided to switch up my carry setup. I’m moving to the Springfield Hellcat Pro for now, but the CC9 might end up in the rotation.

It’s a compact 9mm with a 12-round mag (plus a 10-round option), optic-ready slide, and an ergonomic grip that feels great in hand. Everyone I’ve talked to who owns one swears by it, so I’m curious to see how it performs once I get it to the range. Full review coming soon.

USPSA Prep: Ace Virtual System Gear

I’m jumping into my first USPSA competitions this September, and part of my prep has been setting up dry fire training at home. The Ace Virtual System has been a game-changer for that. I swapped out my old handsets for their Arctis version, which feels closer to a full-size pistol—similar to my Springfield Echelon that I’ll be running in matches.

I also grabbed:

These tools are already making my training sessions more dynamic, especially when paired with my Blue Alpha battle belt.

What’s Next

I’ll be doing full reviews and range videos on the Bodyguard 2 Carry Comp, HK CC9, and some of this dry fire gear in the coming weeks. If you’ve got questions about anything in the video or this article, drop them in the comments below or on YouTube, and I’ll try to cover them in upcoming reviews.

Also, if you’re into training, concealed carry gear, or just like new guns, check out the USA Carry Store for water bottles, shirts, training journals, and more. Big thanks to Ammunition Depot for being the official ammo sponsor of USA Carry and keeping the ammo flowing for all this testing.
