HOUSTON, TX — A man was fatally shot in the early morning hours of November 1 following a confrontation at a residence on Lucky Street, according to the Houston Police Department. The incident is currently under review by a Harris County grand jury.

Police responded to a call around 3 a.m. at 891 Lucky Street where they found a 21-year-old male unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. His identity is pending confirmation by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Investigators determined that the deceased individual had a prior relationship with a woman residing at the home. He had reportedly caused a disturbance at the residence earlier that evening and later returned. At that point, an argument began between the deceased and another man, 26, who was also at the residence.

The situation escalated when the 21-year-old attempted to forcibly enter the home through the garage. A physical altercation followed, during which the 26-year-old retrieved a firearm and shot the intruder multiple times. The woman called 911, and the shooter attempted to provide first aid to the wounded man before paramedics arrived.

Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the case will be presented to a grand jury to determine whether any charges will be filed.

Attempting to render aid to someone who has just posed a serious threat can be admirable, but it is also risky. Even if wounded, a person can still be dangerous—particularly if they are armed or capable of continuing an attack. Always contact emergency services immediately and provide information to help them assess the situation upon arrival.
