The Canadian military has drafted a model response to a hypothetical United States invasion, the Globe and Mail reported on Tuesday, citing senior defense officials. The strategy reportedly envisions unconventional, insurgency‑style warfare inspired by Afghan mujahideen fighters.

Should Cuba, Canada, Greenland And Venezuela All Be Owned By The United States?

Canada created this plan in response to the U.S.’s increased rhetoric regarding Greenland. NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) members that have not supported U.S. ruler Donald Trump’s plans to take over Greenland will be subjected to tariffs, and have caused a widening rift between bloc members.

Canada is a NATO founding member and a U.S. partner in continental air defense.

It is important to note that the U.S. has taken no formal steps in an attempt to acquire Canada.

However, according to the report (as reported by RT), planners are modeling an attack from the south, expecting U.S. forces to overrun Canada’s key land and maritime positions in as little as two days. The model shows that Canada will be unable to repel a conventional attack. That means that the military envisions an insurgency-style warfare, with small units of irregulars or armed civilians carrying out sabotage, drone strikes, and hit-and-run attacks – tactics modeled on Afghan mujahedin operations against Soviet troops in the 1979-1989 war.

It appears that this is the first time in a century that the Canadian Armed Forces have modeled a potential U.S. attack on the country.

Trump: Canada’s Digital Service Tax Is An “Attack” On America

Canadian officials have stressed that the model is “a conceptual and theoretical framework, not a military plan.” While a possible U.S. invasion of its northern neighbor is considered unlikely, Trump’s Greenland push reportedly prompted planners to examine the war scenario.

Trump has also repeatedly suggested that Canada should become the 51st U.S. state, while attempting to take over Greenland and continuing to seize Venezuelan oil. Trump has argued that the U.S. being in control would benefit Canadians. On Monday, he posted an AI-generated image of himself meeting with European leaders in the Oval Office, with a map showing U.S. flags over Greenland, Canada, Cuba, and Venezuela.
