A homeowner in Harrison Township confronted intruders during an aggravated burglary, resulting in shots being fired. One suspect was injured, and multiple arrests were made. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, which involved stolen firearms.

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, OH (2-minute read) — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a burglary and shooting incident that occurred on Sept. 23 and 24 in Harrison Township. Deputies first responded to a residence on the 5500 block of Brantford Road after a homeowner reported a burglary, during which multiple firearms were stolen.

Less than 24 hours later, deputies were called back to the same home following reports of a shooting. The homeowner told authorities that two men had entered his home once again, leading to a violent confrontation. During the struggle, shots were fired, and the suspects fled the scene.

Deputies later apprehended the two men, one of whom had suffered a gunshot wound. The injured suspect was treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries before being released into police custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail.

The Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation, executing search warrants in nearby Trotwood. Authorities detained multiple individuals and recovered a vehicle that may have been used in the burglary. The investigation remains ongoing as additional suspects and details are being uncovered.

Ongoing Investigation in Firearm-Related Burglary

Law enforcement remains focused on identifying everyone involved in the burglary, particularly concerning the theft of firearms from the residence. This incident highlights the critical importance of firearm security and how quickly a home invasion can escalate to violence. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit is leading the effort to ensure all individuals involved are held accountable.

Safety Tip: Properly storing firearms in a secure, locked safe can help prevent them from falling into the wrong hands and being used in violent crimes. Additionally, being prepared and knowing when to defend yourself can make all the difference in a dangerous situation.
